In accordance with the topic of the 6th themed guided tour: London Calling: Gaultier, Westwood, McQueen the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade will offeratour in Englishon Saturday, 23 January 2021 at 12 pm. as presented by Stefan Žarić, fashion historian and curator.
Žarić will discuss the relation between fashion and the idea of the city. Where do we see France and Paris in exhibited pieces, and where do we see London? What is typically French, and what is typically British in Gaultier’s fashion? Žarić will analyze British cultural influences on Gaultier’s designs: punk, ska, London streets extravagance, Vivienne Westwood and explore them through the pieces exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art.The tour will end with an open discussion of the concept of a fashion capital. What would Gaultier inspirations be in Belgrade? Can Belgrade become a fashion capital?
Belgrade presentation of the Love is Love: Wedding Bliss for All a la Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition is the world premiere of the eight dresses by the famous designer. Featuring 38 haute couture wedding garments created in the period 1990-2020, the exhibition Love is Love: Wedding Bliss for All a la Jean Paul Gaultier is the grand finale of the record breaking exhibition The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, that, shown at 12 cities around the world, attracted over two million visitors.
